It's nice that this week we have some golf to talk about as we finally managed to hold the Captains' Drive-In last weekend - keep reading for a full report. Through the past few weeks I have been trying to keep you all updated with the current course conditions and competition status via email. I have had some very positive feedback about this and have had a couple of very nice emails from members commenting how professional it is and how they valued due to the information they have been given. I will continue to email you all on a regular basis where appropriate.

Website Updates
We are currently making improvements to the Teign Valley website and would love you to be able to utilise this great tool on a regular basis. We have listed this year's club diary on the website for you to access and there is also a link to this year' Open Competition as well. Although there are still improvements to be made we hope you can see we are making progress and would encourage any suggestions you may have as to how you think we could improve it.

The Captains' Drive-In
Well the weather was at last a little kinder last weekend as we managed to hold the annual Captains' Drive-In. On a cold, frosty but gorgeous day a brilliant sized field came up to support both the outgoing Captains and the incoming Captains. Proceedings started with the outgoing Captains putting out on the 18th green which was soon followed by the incoming Captains driving in from the 1st tee. Thankfully all of the Captains managed to get their tee shots away and therefore start the team event. With nine main greens and nine temporary greens in operation, it was going to be interesting to assess the scoring.
In the end it we had some simply superb scoring as the top two teams had to be separated on countback after both recording 110 points. The winners were Lee Chatham, Will Hellier, Matt Lee and Malcolm Douglas. They just pipped the team of Alison Orchard, Malcolm Orchard, Mick Davis and Darren Chaplin. At presentation all three incoming Captains had a few words to say and hoped that everyone will support them through their year in office.
Christmas Draw

Are your clubs correct?
This week I was fortunate enough to spend some quality time custom fitting myself, assessing my current clubs and analyzing the difference between new and current weapons. What was most apparent was how much technology has made it easier to maximize potential yardage without sacrificing accuracy. The facility we have with our indoor studio and GC2 HMT is second to none and one that should be utilised by every golfer wanting the best clubs for them.
Lie angle is so crucial to ball direction, strike and curvature that seeing the results of a correct fitting can improve your game without having to hit the range. This quality fit combined with regular coaching can really launch the player into their goals and achieve what they aim to.
The nights are drawing out but please remember that I am here to coach from 8am - 8pm. Don't miss out!

We are learning all the time
My team and I take pride in our desire to always look to improve our knowledge and learn as much as we can in order to pass on valuable information and insights to our customers. This can be done in many ways.
For instance, next week Chris and I are attending a Business Workshop aimed at refreshing our business brains ahead of a busy season. It will also allow us to pick up some valuable new ideas that we can hopefully implement at the club for the benefit of you, the customer. Then on Wednesday I am heading to St Mellion for the Devon Golf Development Conference. This is a great opportunity to rub shoulders with fellow Directors of Golf, Club Owners etc and hopefully pick up some good initiatives to bring back to the club.
This week we were fortunate to have our good friend and PING rep come in and spend a few hours with us doing some product training on the new PING G range which has just launched. James, our rep, used to be a Tour Technician for PING and fitted clubs for the likes of Lee Westwood and Miguel Angel Jimenez. His knowledge and experience is vast and so to pick his brains not just about the new product but also about custom fitting in general, information that we can use ourselves to enhance your fitting experience.

Valentine's Evening
Our Orchard restaurant is the perfect setting for a Valentine's evening. On Saturday, 13 February Nicola and Tom are holding exactly that. They have put together a superb menu to help create a special evening for you to be able to bring loved ones, family and friends along to and have a superb time.
