Hello golfers,
Well another week has passed and it has seen some very mixed weather to the say the least. We have had a few days where we think we have cracked it, but then our old foe Mr Rain comes to visit and make us sad again! All joking apart, I am sure there is light at the end of the tunnel and it won't be too long before we are playing regular golf in some decent weather. With this in mind, now is the perfect time to get ready for the new golfing season! Keep reading for more ideas on how to do this.
Mother's Day - Bookings are now being taken for Mother's Day lunch on Sunday, 6 March. Our superb Orchard Restaurant makes a perfect setting for treating your mum to a delicious home cooked lunch. To reserve your table please contact Nicola.

Shop buzzing with new stock
We have been busy this week revamping the shop as we have received a nice amount of new stock over the past few days. Now is prime time for new hardware deliveries and we have seen drops from Nike, Callaway, Cobra, TaylorMade and PING hit the shop floor. We are currently receiving demo product for some of this year's new ranges and it's been creating quite a hype around the club.
From Nike's new photo blue Vapor Fly range to the new PING G range, it's been great to get some of you hitting the product and receiving some great feedback. We will soon be choosing our product testers out of the fantastic response we have had and will be publishing their feedback in the newsletter. We will also be arranging Demo Days where all of you are welcome to come along and have a hit with this year's new product.
FREE Grip MOT
Our FREE Golf Pride re-grip promotion is proving very popular. There is still time to take advantage of this fantastic initiative so please contact the pro shop as soon as possible if you don't want to miss out.
We can now counter-balance any putter
We have had delivery of the brilliant new counter-balance SuperStroke putter grips. This allows us to counter-balance any putter you have. Counter-balanced putters have really helped so many golfers putt much better. This counter-balance technology increases the putter's overall MOI (moment of inertia), which in theory, they tell us, will make our putting strokes more stable. Although counterbalancing isn't new, manufacturers have promoted its benefits as an alternative to anchoring, which as you know the USGA has banned (the new rule goes into effect in 2016). Forward-thinking putter manufactures have quickly come up with alternatives for those who currently anchor. Counter-balancing is, to date, the most popular of those alternatives as it is a more stable alternative to the standard putter.
You will make more putts. You will lower your scores.
Get your golf in shape
Despite the indifferent weather hampering us somewhat, we have seen a massive influx of golfers wanting to start getting their games in shape ready for the season ahead.
This can be done in many ways such as individual or group lessons. We have coaching plans and sessions for everyone and are constantly seeing some fantastic improvements from our pupils. Even if you are at a point where you feel you are beyond help, which you are not by the way, we can easily help you improve which of course will then increase your enjoyment of the game and extend to the social side of golf. We are here to help so please come and talk to us and get some advice on how we can help you. From getting out of a bunker to just gaining confidence off the 1st tee, we can assist you in any way possible. Helping you to enjoy our great game is of paramount importance to myself and my team so let's enjoy the process together.
Daily Mail Knockouts - Unfortunately both the ladies and men's Daily Mail knockout teams lost at the weekend. They faced tough trips to play Churston and Wranagaton respectively, and despite a good effort it was victories for the home teams.
Charity Car Parking Space - This year the charity car parking space is back. Simon has very kindly agreed to donate a car parking space, which can be won for a year in a prize draw. The Club Captains will be selling the draw tickets over the next few weeks so please support this great idea, help raise some money for Banardos and maybe even grab yourself a prime car parking space for the next 12 months.
The club that never works
Unfortunately, we all have a club in the bag that we either do not use, use sparingly or cling onto the memory of a one-off during last summer. This doesn't have to be the case! Whether it's a stubborn lob wedge, 9-iron chip and run or that dreaded 5-iron, there will be simple changes to technique or approach that can be made to make that club/shot one of joy. Mostly a session talking through why the shot isn't working provides a new prospective and confidence ready to tackle any shot. Come in and fix that one today! Don't let your game suffer!
