Hello golfers,
I hope this finds you well and you have all been well golfed this week. So we find ourselves approaching the Easter holidays and the feeling that the golf season is fast approaching is definitely upon us. We have a packed diary of events both social and competition based for all golfers to partake in. Keep reading the newsletter for further updates and details of additional events.
The end of the oak
These week we have had a tree surgeon in to remove the big oak tree which fell down in the high winds to the left of the 13th Fairway. We have had a few complaints from golfers who used to bounce back in play from hitting that tree but at least they have an excuse for finding the river now!
Mens Stableford
A good sized entry took to the course to compete in the mens stableford at the weekend. Dave Martyr took division 1 honours with 38pts beating Stuart Goodenough in to runners up spot. Division 2 was won by Kevin Quick who recorded 39pts pipping Justin Powlesland by a point. 40pts was the days top score and this belonged to division 3 winner John McDougall. Will Hellier was runner up with 38pts.
Meet the member
This week we meet 9 handicapper Dan Willatt.

The unpredictability! I can play like Rory one minute and like I've never played the game before the next!
Mastering pace putting
Consider a simple gauge for putting:
1 - the ball just reaching the hole and dropping in the front edge
2 - the ball rolling calmly into the hole
3 - the ball travelling with speed into the middle of the hole
4 - the ball hitting the back of the hole
Before you can master putts you have to come to terms with which one is your style. Depending on your style the amount of break to be allowed for will change considerably.
Next time you are on the putting green hit some putts at each speed and see which one you are most comfortable with. Try these few ideas and let me know how you get on.
The nights are drawing out so please remember that I am here to coach from 8am - 8pm. Don't miss out!

FREE Grip MOT
Our FREE Golf Pride re-grip promotion is proving very popular.
There is still time to take advantage of this fantastic initiative so please contact the pro shop as soon as possible if you don't want to miss out.
Once you have felt the benefit of a new grip you will be mad at yourself for not doing it sooner. It is a fact that grips in poor condition will lose you shots.
Ask yourself honest questions...
When was the last time you had new grips fitted on your clubs?
Have you ever had new grips fitted on your clubs?
Bear in mind that if you play 1 -2 times a week you should be changing your grips every 10 - 12 months. We have seen a lot of customers taking advantage of getting their full set of clubs re-gripped as we are happy to do a multi buy option.
Come and see us in the pro shop and let us recommend some grips that will save you shots not lose them.
Product of the Week
The new G irons are a slimmed down take on a modern PING game-improvement iron, with a thinner topline and sole than the previous G30. The biggest change, however, is the addition of a new "COR-Eye," technology that activates the sole, top line, and face to create approximately four times the amount of face flex as the previous model, resulting in significantly more ball speed and distance.
A new alloy used to construct the clubface is approximately 40% stronger than traditional alloy, allowing designers to save weight, which has been moved to the perimeter of the club head for a higher MOI and forgiveness.
In addition, the new custom tuning port is connected to the sole, further helping to lower the CG for improved launch angles. G irons are available in 4-9, PW, UW, SW, and LW with PING AWT 2.0 steel shafts or PING CFS graphite.
We can custom fit any golfer for the superb new G series as we have the PING fitting cart in our studio.
