Hello golfer,
I trust this finds you well. We have reached the point for many where the golf season starts: the clocks have changed and the light evenings are upon us, giving us all more chances to play. Let's hope the weather is kind and we can have a full summer of golf. The course is taking shape nicely with some great definition starting to show through. The greens are a couple of weeks away from running well again after the essential maintenance work was carried out.
It's Masters time
And so it comes to the best week of the year as the start of the Masters is upon us. It really is an event that captures the imagination with its beautifully manicured fairways and greens, coupled with the spectacular display of flowers in bloom.
As for the golf, it doesn't get any better as the course lends itself to amazing adventures and dramas. Who can forget Larry Mize chipping in to beat Greg Norman or Nick Faldo's first win against Scott Hoch? In recent times there was Tiger's famous Nike chip-in on the 16th and Rory's back nine meltdown.
So what will this year bring?
Thrills and spills is a given and some superb golf is undoubted, but what about the outcome? With so many of the world's best golfers in great form, it will be a tough one to call. My tips for this week are:
Justin Rose (28-1) - Henrik Stenson (33-1) - Brooks Koepka (66-1)
Enjoy every minute of it, I know I will.
Course management
A key to playing your best golf is finding a club, shot or yardage that you like/can execute the best. This can be done through practice, consulting a PGA Professional or through use of our GC2 HMT. Once this is done you should plan backwards on each hole. Work out where that yardage is then hit whatever club/second shot you need to leave that most desired shot. This repeatability and confidence will lead to lower scores.
