Hello golfer,
I hope this finds you well. The pro shop team and I are now in our final two weeks before we make our move to Exeter Golf and Country Club. I want to thank all of you for the best wishes we have received and remind you all that we are having our leaving drinks on Saturday, 7 May from 4:30pm until 6:30pm. We would like to invite all members along to share a drink with us and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.
As you will now be aware, my replacement has been appointed and announced. Mark Hurst will be taking up his role on Sunday, 15 May. Mark has been in already getting to know some faces and how the systems work and will be around the club again this Saturday so please seek him out to say hello.
This Saturday sees the first open event of the year take place. The 3BBB Team Open has a full field taking to the course to play in a two scores to count format. The field is pretty much 50% members and 50% visitors so it bodes to be a great day. Good luck to all those playing.
Howard Searle is the 2016 Valley Cup winner as his 38 points secured a two-shot win over Gary Heyworth. In third place was Stephen Pierce.
The teignagers' Millennium Trophy was won by Peter Wengraf who recorded a superb 40 points to beat Brain Tozer by a single point. Mike Sandford was third with 38.
We have had a great reaction to the Motocaddy Trade-In/Trade-Up promotion. Basically it's a no brainer if you're looking to go Lithium. If you have any lead acid trolley battery you can receive a £25 trade-in value against a new Lithium battery or Motocaddy trolley with Lithium battery. Please click here for more details.
In partnership with Srixon we are offering FREE golf balls to our customers. Anyone purchasing a sleeve of three of the new UltiSoft golf ball will receive a sleeve of 2 totally FREE! That's 5 balls for the price of 3. Be quick as this promotion will run only as stock lasts.
A few basics that should always be remembered:
Create a stable base - feet shoulder width apart and weight distributed evenly
Ball never further back than middle in the stance
Completing the swing is essential
Attempting to hold your finish will produce more consistent results
Head should remain practically in the same position during backswing and downswing to impact
Golf is a rotational sport
Power is created from the ground up
A divot is generally not a bad thing
I hope these are easy and a cornerstone of your game. If they aren't come in and we can have a conversation about why they are essential. Try these few ideas and let me know how you get on.
