Hello golfers,
Another weekend approaches and hopefully the weather will stay fair. It's been a busy week here at the club with lots of you taking to the course which has been great to see. Life in the shop has been very busy for myself and the team, and I have had a busy week planning a couple of exciting projects. One I can share with you further down the newsletter and the other I will share more details about in the coming weeks. Well done to all those who have featured well in competitions this week.
I'm looking for a bit of help - if anyone has some old balls lying around please consider donating them for our junior coaching. More on this below.
Captain's Day a great success
Last Saturday was the annual Men's Captain's Day. Captain Ian Black saw a big field take to the course to support his day and help raise money for his chosen charity. Ian and his wife, Jeanette, spent eight hours at the halfway house meeting and greeting all the players and supplying them with a pasty for a bit of added fuel. The golf course was in exceptional condition and the scoring reflected this. The winner of the Captain's Cup was John Spiller, his nett 65 was posted in the first group and stayed all day to pip James Reed, who had the lowest gross with a 68, on countback. In third place was Rick Pillow. John and Captain Ian can be seen below.
We also saw the first hole-in-one on the new 10th hole as Tom Hislop saw his tee-shot disappear for an ace. Tom can be seen pictured above.
Indoor Studio ready at the end of June
I have exciting news regarding my new custom fitting and teaching studio. I have been planning a layout and design and I can confirm that I am confident that it will be ready for use by the end of June. It will be fitted with a state-of-the-art GC2 launch monitor and simulator and will be perfect for both coaching, custom fitting. As well as this, it will have the ability to play golf on some of the world's top courses when the weather is poor.
The images above give you a great insight in to how the new facility will look. I am determined to give members and guests of Exeter Golf and Country Club a first-class facility that can be utilised all year round and believe with this superb addition, alongside the new pro shop, we are a long way forward with turning Exeter Golf and Country Club in to the must visit golf facility in the South West.
More great coaching results
The team and I have once again been busy helping customers with their golf games. It is interesting how many of the lessons we give are about making one or two simple changes.
A lot of golfers are often put off having a lesson through the fear of significant change, but this is rarely the case. If you would like a bit of help with your game or just a little check-up, please contact us in the shop. We are here to help.
Callaway balls now in stock
This week we have taken delivery of some of the Callaway golf ball range. This includes the brilliant Chrome Soft ball and the very popular Supersoft ball. Learn more about both on my website here. The Supersoft has a promotion where you buy a dozen and receive an extra three for FREE.
Attention all junior golfers
In the next week we will be in contact with all junior golf members with our vision for a Junior Development Programme. We have our Junior Golf Academy up and running on Saturday mornings, aimed at introducing new golfers to the game and giving them the core skills. However we are committed to helping those juniors who already have handicaps to reach their full potential. This is where the Junior Development Programme fits in. It will allow us to work on a one-to-one basis with the handicap golfers with the aim to enhance their techniques and also how they apply this on the golf course. If you do not receive the email by Thursday next week then please contact the pro shop and we will be happy to forward the information on to you.
