Hello golfers,
I hope this finds you well and your golf is in good shape. If you feel in need of a little brush up on your game, then why not come and talk to us about how we can help? Quite often all that is required is a little tweak to either your set-up or swing and that would be enough to see some nice improvement. Lessons can be given on all parts of the game and we can also offer playing lessons on the course.
Wow. What a week
So Festival Week has come and gone and what a successful week it was. Starting with the grand opening, we had events on all week. The highlight for many was the Friday night where we had the Geoff Swain trick shot show, live music, a barbeque, casino tables and night golf. Geoff's show was thoroughly entertaining. His ball striking was very impressive but so was his ability to engage and interact with the crowd. He managed to get a few people up to help try some trick shots including myself, Chris, Ben, Geoff Pascoe and Bernard McVitie. The shot from the balloon was particularly impressive!
We were then treated to a lovely barbeque before players took to the course for night golf. Everyone who played seemed to have a great time and it is certainly something we would love to stage again.
I am running a caption prize for the brilliant photo taken at night golf starring Lyndon Bent (four photo above). The prize for the best caption wins a Titleist cap. Submit your entry here.
Palariet team reach Finals Day
Congratulations to the Palariet team on reaching the Finals Day after a well-fought victory over Portmore at Tavistock. In tricky conditions, the team, led by Ian Black and Darren Thorpe, always knew it would be a tough match against a strong Portmore team. This proved to be the case with most of the matches being very tight but in the end the team won 3-2 and move on to Finals Day against Yelverton in the semi-finals, being held at Crediton Golf Club on Sunday, 14 August. It would be great to see a lot of you there supporting the team on what is always a great day.
Massive congratulations to long serving member Rick Pillow who has followed up his impressive victory in the Devon Seniors Championship with a superb win in the South West Seniors Championship held at Launceston Golf Club. This is the first time a Devon golfer has held both titles, well done Rick.
Congratulations to Ray Banfield for winning the Seniors Scratch Championships after a fine 71 secured the trophy. Les Screen won the Seniors Handicap Championship with a nett 64. Well done, chaps.
Indoor Studio Update - I have accessed some of the key components needed for the studio and everything is falling in to place ready to start the conversion. I am currently looking at golf courses for the new simulator software and it looks possible that I will be bringing in the likes of Royal Troon, Celtic Manor 2010 and a few others. I will keep you updated as things progress.
Junior Summer Camp - Places are now being booked for our junior summer camp. This is a great opportunity for juniors to learn core golfing skills in a safe and fun environment. Places are limited so to book your child a place please contact reception.
Get into Golf - There are new starting dates now available through July for golfers to come and learn how to play. If you have any friends, family or work colleagues that would like to try the game in a fun and friendly setting, please do not hesitate to recommend our Get into Golf programme. No equipment is needed all that is required is sensible footwear and a smile on their face. To book a place please contact reception.
Club Open Day - We played our part on Sunday as we made ourselves available to deliver coaching to anyone wanting to try the sport (first photo below). It was very successful and we have managed to sign some new golfers up to our very popular Get into Golf campaign.
We held a very successful TaylorMade Demo Day on Thursday at Newcourt (pictured above). It was a great opportunity for golfers to test the TaylorMade range of product and see for themselves how it performed under the guidance of an expert fitter. I hope that all those who attended enjoyed themselves and found it benefit.
I have had lots of enquiries regarding logo golf balls. This is a great idea if you own your own business as you can play and promote your business on the golf course, but it also makes a lovely gift for a customer. If you order 12 dozen or more then the logo artwork is FREE to set up. If you have an enquiry regarding logo golf balls then please come and speak to us in the shop.
