So 2016 sees another first-time major winner as Jimmy Walker claimed the PGA Championship ahead of world number one Jason Day. A mixture of great ball striking and a silky putting stroke saw Jimmy to his maiden major. It's been really refreshing to see some first-time winners and it just goes to show how good the standard is at the moment. Next up, the Ryder Cup in September.
The studio has undergone a lick of paint this week and is gearing itself for new lighting and the building of the simulator booth next week. It's going to be very exciting to see its progress and next week I'm going to open up a competition for you to win the chance to name the studio. There's the obvious Golf Studio or Golf Lab but I'm looking for something unique. More details next week; but get thinking!

Garmin Update - It's been a while coming but thankfully, the Garmin course update has been completed. Other brands have yet to update but we will give more news as and when we receive it.
Every golfer carries wedges in their bag, but how many of you know they're the correct wedges for you? Choosing the correct wedges for your game is crucial if you're to maximise your scoring potential.
So how do we select the correct wedges?
- Ensure the wedges have the correct lofts for your game. This is based upon how far you may hit your standard set pitching wedge and trying to cover a consistent gap of 4 to 6 degrees of loft with the remaining wedges
- Selecting the correct bounce and grind on the wedges is crucial for optimum turf and sand interaction. Having the wrong grind can cause poor contact on pitch and bunker shots
- Having your wedges fitted with the correct grips is crucial for feel. Obtaining feel is a huge advantage when playing those delicate shots around the green
