Hello golfers,

I hope this finds you well and that your golf has been good this week. If your game is not quite where you want it to be then we can help. With the opening of our state-of-the-art golf studio this Saturday, we can offer a superb all-year-round facility for both practice and playing. It will also allow us to teach all year including putting lessons on our indoor putting green. To coincide with this I have now launched our winter coaching packages which are set out further down the newsletter. So much going on!

I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has already taken the time to complete my Customer Survey. If you haven't already, please spare 5 minutes as your feedback is vital. Access my survey here.

Grand Opening

This Saturday sees the official opening of our studio. It will be fitted with a GC2 launch monitor and simulator which will make your coaching and fitting experience superb. The simulation software helps the golfer see the result to each shot hit and will be backed up with accurate data to help explain to any golfer what is happening with their technique.

We will be able to offer a first class service to our members that will include putting lessons on our indoor putting green. The simulator will also be available to hire for playing golf on as we will have a choice of world class courses to play. Our custom fit service will be superb as we will be offering fitting for irons, drivers, fairways, hybrids, wedges and putters with a superb choice of brands. Our fitting components will be fitted on to the studio wall with head and shaft options to suit all.

The official opening takes place Saturday morning with club officials and then from 12pm we will open the studio up for members to pop in and take a look and also have a FREE go on our nearest the pin competition. There will be prizes for the closet shots in handicap categories and it will be a great chance to test out our new facility. See you on Saturday.

Tournament news

Ryder Cup

I am so excited this week. Firstly we have the opening of the studio and secondly it's Ryder Cup week. It doesn't get any better than every two years watching the Europeans take on the Americans to battle it out for the Samuel Ryder cup. This year the venue is Hazeltine which looks like a course lined with mature trees, very much like our course here at Exeter. The two teams line up with players on each side in excellent form.

Rory McIlroy will be buoyant after his TOUR Championship and FedEx Cup double last weekend. The Americans have Dustin Johnson who looked to have the FedEx Cup wrapped up before Rory spoilt the party, as well as the best putter in the world in Jordan Spieth. The Europeans have a number of rookies on the team this time round but they are all global players and I'm sure will relish the unique Ryder Cup atmosphere.

It really is a tough one to call but as much as my heart says Europe I just think the Americans may sneak it 15-13. They will be desperate to stop the recent European domination and just have the edge in my book but I hope I'm wrong. My pick for top points scorers would be Rory for Europe and Jimmy Walker for the Americans. One thing for sure is we will be seriously entertained from start to finish and it will be one hell of a ride!

Thought of the week

Goodbye to 'The King'

Arnold Palmer sadly passed away but his legacy as a true icon of the game will certainly live on. Labelled as the first real superstar of the game, it is said that 'The King' transcended the game of golf.

Palmer became the first major US superstar and went on to win seven Majors, including four Masters titles - and his rivalry with the 'Big Three' dominated golf.

Tributes have poured in, from players past and present, as well as from the US President. Jack Nicklaus said:

"He was more than a golfer or even great golfer. He was an icon. Arnold was someone who was a pioneer in his sport. He was the king of our sport and always will be."
