Hello golfers,
I trust this finds you well.
Well what a weekend that was. We had the official opening of the new golf studio which went superbly and then witnessed the US team outplay the European team to claim victory in the Ryder Cup. More details on both can be found further down the newsletter. We are now starting to receive our winter stock so be sure to pop in and take a look at what we are stocking this winter.
Some Great Golf, Some Not So Great Behaviour
It seems as though every time the Ryder Cup takes place we seem to come away afterwards saying "that was the best golf I've ever seen". Yet again I find myself saying the same. In particular Sunday's play was simply awesome! The quality of golf was just outrageous and I don't think I've ever seen so many putts holed. The Garcia and Mickelson match went birdie mad as they had a combined better ball score of 58 and a combined 19 birdies!
I said last week that I thought that the US team had the edge and so it proved. From the first day's session, where they won all 4 matches, it never felt the European team would make the required comeback. The US team just seemed to be very together and wanting to really grind out a win on home soil. The amount of rookies on the European team was always a worry but there were some bright points. Thomas Pieters was immense! He took to the cauldron of the Ryder Cup like a duck to water and forged a great partnership with Rory McIlroy. Rafa Cabrera Bello also excelled and seemed very comfortable in the company he held, however it looked like Andy Sullivan, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Chris Wood were not quite ready for what ensued. I'm sure their time will come again, however, and they will draw on this experience.
As far as the captains are concerned it was Davis Love who won the honours over Darren Clarke. Although I felt he didn't do much wrong I must admit I didn't get inspired that much by any of Clarke's interviews and leaving Cabrera Bello out on the Saturday afternoon was a mistake. Overall it was compelling viewing but once again on American soil there were the usual few uneducated fans who couldn't help but shout at the European team over the ball and even during backswings. Worse still was the vile comments that the European team and their family's had to endure. There is simply no place for this at any golf event and yet it now seems common place at every Ryder Cup on US soil. I have been very lucky to go to 4 Ryder Cups on British soil and you never ever hear comments of that nature aimed at American players. Sure there will be a little cheer if they hit into water and the like but never personal abuse. Let's hope that eventually they start to act with correct etiquette and decorum that the likes of Nicklaus, Palmer and Watson demanded in their Ryder Cup days.
Studio Now Open
Saturday saw the opening of my new indoor golf studio. After weeks of planning and construction it was great to finally let the members see what a superb facility we have added to the club. The opening started with The Vice President and The Chairman as well as the Captains, board members and management staff, being there at the official unveiling and to hit some shots to officially open the facility.
After a slight technical hitch we then opened up to the members who came along and had a go at our nearest the pin competition.
The atmosphere was brilliant and the feedback we have had on the studio has been very positive indeed. I have put together some lesson packages as well as some offers to allow you to buy simulator time. Please see below for more details.

Winter Clothing
We are just starting to see our drops of winter clothing arrive in to the pro shop. The weather just feels like it's starting to change so we will need to start thinking about warmer layers and also waterproof clothing.
We have ranges in store from brands such as Galvin Green, Nike, Under Armour and FootJoy. We have garments to suit all budgets and have a great choice to choose from. Why not come in and take a look and set yourself up for winter golf.
Now the new studio is open we can offer you an amazing custom fitting service. With brands such as Callaway, Titleist, PING, TaylorMade and Cobra we have fitting components set out on the studio wall with different club head types and shafts to suit all golfers.
Our aim is to fit you with the best product, that best suits your game, whilst giving you a first class experience.
Our GC2 launch monitor and simulator gives us instant and accurate data which helps us fit you with the correct product for you.
We can fit right through the bag to include drivers, fairways, hybrids, wedges and putters on our indoor putting green.
Through the fitting we are checking to make sure we fit you correctly with the following:
Club head
Shaft length
Shaft flex
Lie angle
Grip size
Custom fitting is not a luxury it is essential. If you want to improve your golf it is so important to be fitted correctly.
I often hear people say that it wouldn't make any difference to them but that is not true. A higher handicap golfer may not swing consistently, but surely when they do they want to get the maximum result out of their clubs? If the clubs are ill fitted then the chances are this won't happen. Who's to say that the reason you can't play to your handicap or reduce your handicap is down to not having your clubs fitted? You'll never know unless you do.
Come and talk to us about getting fitted, or click here to book a fitting.
