Hello golfers, 

I hope this finds you well. For those who suffer with a bad back on a regular basis, I sympathise! This week I have been crocked with a back spasm caused by bending down to pick up one of Oscar's toys! The simplest little bending and bang it felt like I had been shot. Thankfully after some sports massage and some very good stretching exercises it has eased enough to attempt to play the Devon PGA Alliance at Thurlestone on Thursday. Fingers crossed it holds up and it is a one off problem.


 

Titleist Fitting Day 

On Wednesday I held a Titleist fitting day in the new golf studio. Ben, one of the Titleist fitting experts, was on hand to deliver fittings on the new 917 range of product. It is undoubtedly the most adjustable product that Titleist have ever produced and its range of flexibility makes it a product suitable for all handicap ranges. It was really interesting to see the numbers change according to either shaft, loft or weight positions. 

There were some superb gains in both distance and dispersions and really highlighted the importance of being custom fitted.


 

Christmas Draw 

It's amazing to think that Christmas is fast approaching! It just seems like we have finished summer and now we are starting to think about the festive period. from 1st November in the Pro Shop we will be starting to sell tickets for our Pro Shop Christmas Draw. There will be some great prizes and one lucky ticket holder will have the opportunity to play for a bonus prize in our "Simulator Challenge". 

The tickets will be numbered 1 - 500 and the amount you pay for your ticket is based upon the number of the ticket you draw out of the hat at random. Every ticket number is the amount in pence you pay for your ticket. So if you pick ticket number 10 you will pay 10p for your ticket. Pick ticket 320 and you pay £3.20 for your ticket. Therefore the minimum you pay for a ticket is 1p and the maximum is £5.

Be Prepared For Winter Golf 

The past week we have started to see the start of some winter golf conditions. We have had a couple of frosts which obviously have led to no trolleys, so it makes sense to make sure you have a carry bag in the car just in case. We have had a delivery of some great 7" inch waterproof stand bags which are perfect for winter golf. We also have a range of beanies and bobble hats as well as winter mitts and lots of other winter essentials. 

Pop in to the pro shop and get ready for winter golf.


Just In Time For Winter

Now that the new indoor golf studio is open we have some superb winter coaching packages that as a team we can offer our members. Many of you are already taking advantage of this and are already working hard on improving your games. 

Winter is a great time to evaluate your game and try to work on areas of your game that cost you shots, in order to start out next year with a game geared for better scores and more enjoyment.

Ladies Stableford 

Annie Norman took top spot in Division 1 in the ladies stableford as her 39pts beat Sally Rimmer on countback. Lyne Beevers was 3rd with 38pts. Division 2 was won by Mary Dawrant on 40pts. Jenny Pullen was runner up with 37pts and Pam Jarrett was 3rd with 36pts. Sharon Thorpe signed for an excellent 40pts to take Division 3 honors with Jackie Harris 2nd with 38pts and Sarah Branton 3rd with 37pts.

Mens 4BBB Stableford 

Jim Norton and Jerry Wollen took top spot with an excellent 47pts. Runners up were Dave Mulvihill and Roy James with 46pts.

American Mixed Foursomes 

Barbara Nute and Keith Parnell were the winners of the Mixed American Foursomes on Sunday. Ann and Graham Gie were runners up on count back. Daryl and Pete Southwell were 3rd with 44pts.
