Hello golfers, 

I hope this finds you well and safe from the torrent of rain we have endured the past couple of days. Thankfully looking at the forecast it looks set dry for a few days so hopefully the course can recover and drain the excess water. As expected now buggy's have been taken away for the winter due both to the potential damage they may cause and the safety element to using them in the wet conditions. I hope you agree that they have been a very positive addition to the club and we look forward to having them in operation in the spring.


 

Starting on Friday the 25th November I am holding a Black Friday weekend. Everything in the shop will have some form of discount applied to it. This will be on stock items only. We will have some great savings on clubs, shoes, clothing and much more. This really is a great time to pick up a bargain so be sure to come along and save yourself some money. 

It is the ideal time to pick up some Christmas presents.


 

Annual Dinner and Dance 

Leah and myself were delighted to attend our first Exeter Golf and Country Club Dinner and Dance on Saturday night. The evening was a huge success with a large number of the golf section attending and supporting the evening. We were treated to a lovely meal followed by some fantastic speeches from President Elect Keith Bolden, Men's Captain Ian Black, Ladies Captain Chris Norton and Men's Vice Captain Keith Parnell. A live band then entertained us and the dancing shoes were on as we hit the dance floor and threw some shapes! It really was a fun evening and well done to Lyndon Bent on all his hard work in organising the event.


 

Indoor Golf is Available 

Now we have had our first course closure of the winter it starts us thinking about our winter golf opportunity's. With our new indoor studio we can offer golfers the opportunity to either practice or play on some of the world's finest courses such as the recent Ryder Cup course Hazletine and the iconic Pebble Beach. We Have Christmas Shopping All Wrapped Up 

Here in the pro shop we are well aware of how hard it is as a golfer to receive the golfing gifts you really for Christmas. To help with this we are offering a Christmas Wish List to all our customers. How it works is very simple. Pop in to the Pro Shop and pick up your wish list and fill out the golfing gifts you would like friends or relatives to buy you. Then simply take it home and give it to them. It will have our contact details on there so they can contact us to pop up and buy the gifts on your wish list. It's as simple as that.

Christmas Draw 

It's amazing to think that Christmas is fast approaching! It just seems like we have finished summer and now we are starting to think about the festive period. from 1st November in the Pro Shop we will be starting to sell tickets for our Pro Shop Christmas Draw. There will be some great prizes and one lucky ticket holder will have the opportunity to play for a bonus prize in our "Simulator Challenge". 

The tickets will be numbered 1 - 500 and the amount you pay for your ticket is based upon the number of the ticket you draw out of the hat at random. Every ticket number is the amount in pence you pay for your ticket. So if you pick ticket number 10 you will pay 10p for your ticket. Pick ticket 320 and you pay £3.20 for your ticket. Therefore the minimum you pay for a ticket is 1p and the maximum is £5.

Winter Warmer 

Our Golf Studio Winter Warmer is proving very popular with the members. This is an opportunity to purchase time in the golf studio over the winter months for either your own practice time or to play golf on one of the worlds finest golf courses. Once signed up to our winter warmer you will also get the opportunity to receive discount on further studio use as well as golf lessons and much more. Don't Let Winter Get In Your Way

Now that the new indoor golf studio is open we have some superb winter coaching packages that as a team we can offer our members. Many of you are already taking advantage of this and are already working hard on improving your games. 

Winter is a great time to evaluate your game and try to work on areas of your game that cost you shots, in order to start out next year with a game geared for better scores and more enjoyment.

Ladies 3 Ball Team Event 

A good field took to the course to contest a 3 player team event on Tuesday. The team of Liz Harding, Jan Ash and Kathryn Jose took the honours with 79pts pipping the trio of Lynne Beevers, Sue Gannon and Tina Fairman by a point.

Mens Greensomes Stableford 

A full field took to the course to play a greensomes stableford last Saturday. Winning on countback with 44pts was the pairing of Andy Rockey and Chris Rockey pipping the pairing of Paul Smale and Roger Worthington. In 3rd place with 43pts were Neil Guppy and Peter Higgs.
