Hello golfers, 

I trust this finds you well. And so the season is starting as we had the defining moment of the clocks changing last weekend. That means we have a further 7 chances to play some golf which is music to my ears. We can also count down the next 7 days until the US Masters starts. As kind as winter has been it is great to be looking at spring. The golf course looks in great shape so all bodes well for the months ahead.


 

Devon Futures Girls Squad Coaching  

I had a great time at the club on Saturday afternoon as I welcomed the Devon Futures Girls Squad Coaching to the club. I spent 4 hours with them working on putting techniques and drills before heading out on to the course for 7 holes to assess course management and playing skills. It was nice to see some Exeter juniors part of the set up. There were some superb talents on show and the future of ladies golf in Devon looks in safe hands.


 

Ladies Medal

Kym Kortland took Division 1 honors with a nett 72 in the Ladies Medal with Jackie Follett runner up with nett 74. Sue Edwards recorded a nett 76 to win Division 2 with Chris Cantalon runner up with nett 77. Division 3 was won by Jackie Windsor with a nett 76 beating Teresa Radcliffe on countback.


Mens Fourball Better Ball  

Another full field took to the course to contend in a better ball pairs format. Phil Mills and Kim Stegall took the honors with 45pts. Alan Edgcombe and Rob Simpson were runners up with 44pts. 3rd was Chris Curtis and Pete Higgs with 43pts.


Victory Bowl  

The Victory Bowl team have their work cut out as they lost the home leg at home last weekend. In a tie which could have gone either way, it ended with a 3-2 win to the Warren and sets up an exciting 2nd leg down at the Warren in August.


 

US Masters Sweepstake 

The start of the golf season is rapidly approaching and that means it's not long until the US Masters is with us. To add some further interest into the event I am running a US Masters Sweepstake through the pro shop. You simply come in and pay £5 to write your name in a square then once the field for the Masters is confirmed a couple of days before the event you will get drawn at random a player for the event. Prizes will be awarded down to 5th place as well as daily prizes for best and worst round. 1st prize will be £125 to spend in the Pro Shop. You can enter the sweepstake from this Saturday.


 

Bag Trade In  

We currently have a bag trade in promotion running in store. You can trade in your old bag and receive £20 against a new Motocaddy, or Callaway golf bag. Come in to the Pro Shop and take advantage of this great offer.

Early Season Success Addition  

I highlighted last week some golfers who had early season success after undertaking some lessons with myself. I forgot to mention Grant De Shapland who also had 39pts in the Stableford. Sorry Grant and keep up the good work!

Member Experience Days  

As promised I have put together a number of member experience days for you to sign up to. We start in April with the following experiences:

Footjoy Fitting Day - Wednesday 5th April: This sees Footjoy join us for the day to help fit you into the correct shoe size. It's amazing how many of us wear the wrong size. This will lead to both discomfort and poor wear of the shoes. Every style can fit differently and different shoes suit different foot shapes. Why not take advantage of this FREE fitting opportunity and book a slot to have your feet measured?

Titleist Vokey and Scotty Cameron Trial Day - This will be a fantastic opportunity to come along and trial and get fitted for both Titleist SM6 wedges and Scotty Cameron putters. There will be product for both left and right handed players and there will be a Titleist fitting expert on hand to help guide you. This will be sure to be popular so please be quick to book a fitting slot. Times available betwenn 12 - 4pm.
