PING G30 Team Long Drive Competition
In conjunction with the 2 man Team Championship this Saturday we are running a PING G30 Long Drive Competition. It is £1 a person to enter and you enter as your pair. The idea is that both players hit 3 drives and then we take the longest drive from each player and add the yards together to give a total distance. The winners will be the pair who have recored the highest combined total in yards. There will also be prizes for the longest drive individually in handicap divisions (winners of team total not included).
The Future is Fast!
The PING G30 range of products are going down a storm with the members. Lots of you are trying and loving the performance of the "Turbulators". We have demo product in stock so please feel free to come and talk to us about a FREE demo or click here to ask for a time.
Members see the benefit of custom fit.
It's great looking at the number of members who are taking advantage of our FREE custom fit service. We are constantly trying to educate people on how important it is to have clubs and equipment that is fitted to suit YOU!
We are all different heights and builds and so therefore having clubs to suit is vital for playing good consistent golf. It is easy to blame the swing when we hit a bad shot and obviously technique plays a part but having correctly fitted clubs can help eradicate a lot of those poor shots. If the length or lie angle of your club is wrong it can cause poor striking which leads to wayward shots and loss of distance. We are able to give players huge gains in distance and dispersion by fitting them with the correct shaft, lie angle, loft angle and grip size. With our GC2 launch monitor we can supply and explain all the shot data needs for your perfect custom fitting. Having clubs that produce the wrong flight and spin rates can cause a serious loss of distance, it's not uncommon to see at least a club difference!
We have a wide range of demo clubs in all the leading brands and vast knowledge of custom fitting so fitting couldn't be easier.
Join the hoards of others who are now enjoying better golf after a custom fitting with us.

Medal and 3rd round of Four Seasons Trophy
A good field took to the course for the medal and 3rd round of the four seasons. Division 1 was taken by Stuart Daw with an excellent nett 65 beating Tim Leonard and the man on form Joel Carnell (pictured) in to runners up on nett 66. Gary Birch took Division 2 honours with a nett 68 beating Mark Harris and Ian Couper nett 70. Score of the day and the winner of Division 3 was Roger Carpenter with a superb nett 62! Runner up was Jamie Scanlan on nett 66.
Teignagers Medal
Scoring was superb in the Teignagers Medal on Monday. Score of the day and winning Division 1 was Nigel Baverstock who recorded an amazing nett 62 and pipped Stan Jones nett 63 in to runners up spot. 3 players tied at the top in Division 2 with Barry Gribble beating Len Thomas and Mike Sandford on count back after all 3 record excellent nett 66's.
New mixed organisers needed
We are looking to recruit a couple to take over the running of the mixed section. Barbera and Len Thomas have done a fantastic job the past 2 years but have decided that it is time to stand down and pass the role on to someone new. It is not a daunting task to run the mixed and as many of you know the mixed is a very social section to be involved with. If you think you may like to help within the mixed section then please contact myself or Len and Barbera.
Super stroke your way to better scores
As many of you will have seen recently there has been a growing number of players switching to use a Superstroke putter grip. The larger grips are designed to encourage a more solid putting stroke helping to eliminate excessive wrist action which is often one of the major causes of inconsistent putting. If the wrists become to active then this can have major restrictions on the ability to control distance putts and maintain a square club face through impact causing pushes and pulls. The Superstroke range of putter grips come in various sizes to suit all golfers so next time your at the club why not pop in to the shop and we can advise you on what size grip to be fitted with.
Know how far you hit the ball
Many golfers I play with have no idea of what yardage they have left in to any green. Their club selection is based upon guess work which they may get away with it to an extent as they become familiar with their own course but when they go elsewhere they struggle to get their club selection right.
A GPS watch is the perfect way to get a accurate yardage on every shot you play. It displays a yardage to the front, middle and back of any green thus giving you the opportunity to select the correct club needed to cover the required distance. The Skycaddie GPS watch is a fantastic product and is in stock in the pro shop. We have a demo watch available for you to take to the course and try.
Find your numbers
Working in conjunction with a GPS device it is vital that you know how far you hit each club. Using our GC2 launch monitor we can help you to understand how far you hit each club. We can help you perform a gap test which works out the average carry and total distance you hit each of your clubs vital information for the golf course. An example of this would be your GPS device showing 132 yards to go and you knowing your 8 iron goes 135 would be a pretty good club selection.

Par 18
This short game drill focuses on the scoring side of golf. In this drill the player throws 9 balls around the practice green and attempts to get up and down on every ball.
From the name of the drill the score they are trying to achieve is 18. With the different shots that will be faced a number of chipping clubs from lob wedge all the way to a cheeky rescue club can be used. For further drills, or short game help if you are struggling with this drill please come and see me!
Now is the time to sharpen up your game for the rest of the season. I am offering a game improvement package during the month of August consisting of an equipment check, a swing lesson and a short game lesson all for JUST £35.00. Click here to book yours.
