Greetings from Darren Everett
Teign Valley Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional

Hello golfers,

I hope you are all well and your golf has been successful this past week. We have had another busy week here at the club with lots of you trying to make the most of the remaining light evenings and good weather. Please remember that we would love to hear about any of your golfing experiences both here at the Valley and away from the club so we can publish them in our newsletter. To send in details please click here.

Our Price Promise to All Our Customers

I take great pride in not only the amount of great product that we stock but also how competitive our pricing is. I make it one of my weekly tasks to sit down and look at other retailers and compile a list of what price they are selling the products that we stock. Without having to move my pricing I am always sitting there right alongside the best pricing online. The one thing they I can give ALL my customers that the online retailers cannot is face to face advice and service.

We are here 7 days a week to help you with all of your enquiries and queries and are the best people qualified to recommend and fit you for correct produce. We also offer a complete after sales service package on all items we sell which gives our customers complete piece of mind.

If by any chance anyone finds a product we sell and the price is cheaper than us then I am more than happy to match that price without compromising on our quality of service.

Please feel free to come in to the Pro Shop and chat to us about our service.s

Summer Sale Continues

Our Summer Sale is still rolling and there are still a few bargains to had. We have added some new lines and in particular this week have some superb deals on some golf bags. These bags are located just outside the shop door and start from as little as £50!! Be quick though as once they are gone their gone.

Fed Ex Cup

This weeks sees the start of the Fed Ex Cup Playoffs. It signals the final run towards the end of the season on the PGA Tour. Man of the moment Rory Mcilroy is in pole position as they hit the final stretch and he will be keen to top off a brilliant season by securing his first Fed Ex Cup before heading to Gleneagles to help the European Team retain the Ryder Cup.

Testimonial

It's been fantastic to see so many of you taking the opportunity to come and see myself and my team and get custom fitted for your golf equipment. It really is crucial for improvement to any standard of golfer and it is a service we provide FREE of charge. Please come and chat to us about a custom fit and the benefits it will bring your game.

We are seeing some great results from some of recent customer custom fittings. I had this sent to me on email yesterday from a very happy customer.

Martyn Eden

"I recently booked a custom fitting session with Darren based on great feed back from other members who had gone through this process. I was impressed by the ease and quality Darren's assessment using the launch monitor and simulator and his diagnosis of what the data meant and how he could improve it with the correct custom fitting. I tried a wide range of clubs and came away having placed an order for a set correctly fitted to my size and technique. The result is a great new set of Nike Covert 2.0 irons which feel very much like my old Nike set but I now have the benefit of modern technology and the fact they have been correctly fitted for me. The process was so easy and really good fun and there was no pressure to buy. I would urge anyone looking to improve their game to do the same as I did. Thanks Darren"

We have also seen some great results from Bjorn Lonngren another of our custom fit customers including 40pts in last Saturdays roll up.

New mixed organisers needed

We are looking to recruit a couple to take over the running of the mixed section. Barbera and Len Thomas have done a fantastic job the past 2 years but have decided that it is time to stand down and pass the role on to someone new. It is not a daunting task to run the mixed and as many of you know the mixed is a very social section to be involved with. If you think you may like to help within the mixed section then please contact myself or Len and Barbera.

Tremendous Team Success's

This past week we have seen both the men's and ladies sections at the club record some superb Success's. The men's A Team have been promoted back to Division 1 in the Dartmoor League after a last game of the season success at home to Dartmouth 4 1/2 to 1/2. They could well end up as the winners of Division 2 as well but are just relying on results elsewhere before it can be confirmed.

Congratulations to Pat Masterson and his squad for a successful season.

The Ladies Presidents Team have qualified for the Semi Finals after their latest win against Tavistock. They now travel to East Devon on September 11th and we wish them all the very best.

Club Charity Day

The annual club charity day takes place this year on Saturday 13th September. The format is teams of 3 Stableford and the cost per team is £75. This includes food and a scratch card. The sign up sheet is on the mixed board so please support the Captains and put your name down to play on what is normally a great fun day.

New Grips Can Lower Your Scores

When was the last time you changed the grips on your clubs?? Have you EVER changed the grips on your clubs?? If not or indeed not for a long time then it should be something you look to do quickly and certainly before the winter kicks in. Poor grip conditions lead to poor traction between the hands and the club which can lead to poor control over the club and in turn poor results. There is also a tendency to increase grip pressure to much to compensate for poor traction and this can become very destructive to rhythm and tempo which in turn creates a great deal of inconsistency.

We stock a wide range of grips and our fitting service is FREE! It is also crucial that you are fitted with the correct sized grip so please come and see us in the Pro Shop and we can measure and advise you of the right type of grip for you!

Click here to book in and get your grips MOT'd.
