Hello golfers, I hope this finds you well.

How brilliant to see Padraig Harrington back in the winners circle last weekend at the Honda Classic. He showed amazing composure to secure the win and hopefully this will be the stepping stone for a return to the top of the game. England's Andy Sullivan was also in the headlines as he captured his second European Tour title and both happen to have been in South Africa. Guess where he will retire when he's through with the game!!

Life here at the Valley is getting busier as each day passes by. The weather is holding out and the evenings are getting lighter day by day.

FREE MOT This Weekend

This weekend we are offering you the opportunity to have a FREE MOT check on your equipment. We will check the loft and lies on your irons and all the grips on your whole set. We will then give you a report on our findings and will recommend any alterations that may need to be done which you can then choose to act on. Believe it or not the lofts and lies on your irons can move through playing, so it is crucial to have these checked as you can easily lose distance or direction through poor lofts and lies.

All you need to do is come in to the Pro Shop and let us take care of the rest.

   

Same loft, different clubs

This week I am discussing the difference and uses between similar loft clubs. Coming up to our MOT weekend making sure you make the most out of your clubs is imperative. There is no point having two clubs that go the same, or nearly the same job.

Let's take 20 degrees - in this loft you can get a 5 wood, 4 hybrid and 4 iron. As you would expect the distance will vary, and should however if not by much then would you carry all 3? The point I am making is that checking lofts on clubs, gap testing and using our knowledge can save you an over stocking in similar clubs. Clubs should be considered for a distance step, a flight difference or an ease of use.

If you think you have clubs that go the same distance it is worth checking if this is the case, then talking to us about what can be done to make the club gapping more efficient.

Mens Stableford 

A big field took to the course to compete in the Mens Stableford at the weekend. The course was playing well and this was reflected in the superb scoring. Adrian Izod was the top man in Division 1 as his 41pts beat both Nigel Jones and Luke Yates by a point. Well done to Adrian as well who had his handicap reduced to 9 in the process. 

Division 2 was topped by a superb 42pts from John Bollard. Simon Cole, Dave Shipp and Mark Harris all recorded 40pts. John Simon was the winner of Division 3 as his 40pts beat Graham Wiltshire and Malcolm Douglas who both recorded 38pts. 

This weekend sees the Men's Medal being played.
