The men's Daily Mail team unfortunately lost there match against Stover Golf Club at the weekend. Although disappointing they can now turn their efforts to the start of their Dartmoor League Campaign.
Ken Wicks and Ralph Robinson Memorial
There was a great turnout for the memorial trophy played in memory of 2 of the clubs fondest characters. On a lovely day for golf and with the course in superb condition the scoring was destine to be good. So to see 2 players record 41pts was no surprise. Charlie Yates and Adrian Izod both signed for the best scores but it was Charlie who won the trophy on count back.
We will trade in your old irons
As the new golfing season approaches many of you will be thinking about treating yourselves to some new irons. Please remember that as your PGA Club Professional I am the most qualified person to help you find the correct set of irons for you. With the aid of our GC2 launch monitor I can give you the ultimate custom fit experience to make sure that we are fitting you correctly for your new clubs. We will look at elements such as shaft length and flex, grip size, lie angle and lofts to try to get the most out of your game.
The bonus for you as the customer is that all this comes FREE if you make a purchase on what you have been fitted for. We also offer a FREE 3 month check up so we can make sure that you are totally happy with your purchase. To help with the cost of your new clubs we offer a trade in on your old clubs. The price we offer depends on the age and condition of the clubs but we are more than happy to discuss this with you.
So if you've been thinking of treating yourself then now is a great time to pop in to the pro shop and talk to us about a custom fitting.
Testimonial
I felt compelled to write a quick review about my recent experience up at the valley.
Having not had any lessons for almost 2 years (at another course) and "going it alone" I decided to take Darren up on his offer of a studio "check up lesson" to see if there was anything major I could work on with my game.
After hitting a handful of balls into the screen Darren set to work and pointed out my cramped posture at address. With a few alterations (feeling awkward at first) I soon found that the results improved quite a bit. I was really impressed with the facility as a whole to be honest. Being the first time up in the studio it was much bigger than most I've seen and the ability to see instant data, instant feedback, on the shots you've just hit was incredible. Data which continued to improve as we went on.
I found Darren's style attentive, answering any questions I had including some about other subjects besides posture. In the past I've had a couple of lessons with other pros where you get the impression that they don't want to give too much away. That once the lesson is over you will have to come back if you want to know that. There's a pressure to buy more lessons or even equipment.
With Darren it seems he teaches for the love of it rather than just the bottom line. He even sent me a picture message on the spot comparing my postures and a separate release drill. Something I can take away with me.
So all in all it was a very positive experience. Something I would encourage thanks mainly to Darren and the set up he has.
Thanks again.
Simon Prout
