Hello golfers,
I hope you are well and the golf has been good this week. Apologies for a fairly brief newsletter this time but I have a lot to do this week as you will see!
I have spent my week preparing for the next week's events here at the club. Saturday is my annual Pro's Day and we have, as it stands, 192 players in the field which is a record entry! Thank you to all of you who are finding the time to support the day. It is also my Summer Sale on Saturday with some crazy bargains to be snapped up. I don't normally start discounting hardware until a bit later in the year but Saturday will see some fantastic savings on current hardware products as well as clothing, shoes, bags and much, much more! This really is the perfect time to grab some great deals!
On Saturday night we are holding the 20th Year Anniversary Party for Teign Valley Golf Club. The evening starts at 7.00pm with a BBQ running all night until 10.30pm and I will be holding presentation for Pro's Day at around 9.00pm. Friends and family are all invited so it would be great to see lots of you in the evening not only to attend the presentation but to celebrate 20 years of this great Golf Club. You even get a complimentary drink on arrival!
Just a reminder as well that ALL prize winners in Pro's Day MUST attend the presentation.
Moving in to next week we have the Ladies Charity Day on Tuesday with a good sized field taking part and on Wednesday we have the Teignagers' Charity Day which is always a superb day with another big field expected this year.
I love it when we have busy weeks like the one coming up. It is what I thrive on and with the weather set fair and the golf course in superb condition, it should be a brilliant week ahead.
Congratulations to Kim Paley who made her first hole-in-one recently - pictured here!
Midweek Stableford - Congratulations to Graham Davis who won his first competition as his 41 points edged out Neil Townsend in to the runner-up spot.
Ladies Stableford - Sue Longstreeth was star performer in Division One as her 40 points took top spot, three ahead of Fiona Carpenter in second. Division Two was won by Barbara Thomas with Liz Evans in second place. Carol Davies signed for 38 points to win Division Three ahead of Jan Mahoney on 37.
The key to sustained success In all areas it is very hard to keep improving without the correct time allocated to the activity and without fully understanding what you are trying to improve. It is no coincidence that professional golfers regularly seek the time of their Coach to constantly keep on top of little faults, or to keep progressing with certain elements. We all play this game for enjoyment in our spare time, setting time for a regular lesson to make sure it is as enjoyable as possible should be a no brainer. Lessons do not have to be every week but a 5-7 week gap should maintain a good level of performance. Remember, understanding why your bad shots do what they do with the advice of a professional is more than half the battle - assuming is not.
Can you afford to not achieve what you want or see your playing partners pass you by?
