I hope you are all well and well golfed this week. It's been a mixed week weather wise with a deluge late last week causing some temporary flooding on the course followed by some gorgeous weather to dry it all up again. As I write this the sun is beating down and it's stunning outside, even Chris has gone outside to practice! It's been a really busy weekend at the club with the promise of a very busy latter part of the week and weekend this week. It's great to look forward to and something that we have waited for through the poor weather at the start of the year. It's also nice to see the clocks change and the light evenings coming back. All this means one thing... The Masters is on its way!! I love this event as it's the reason I took up golf! In next weeks newsletter I will be writing a more detailed Masters preview.

The Masters Sweepstake

The Masters Deal Wheel

Over the duration of the US Masters we will be giving our customers a chance to spin our deal wheel! On the deal wheel will be various offers and discounts allowing you to access some great offers in the Pro Shop. This will run for the 4 tournament days and will available at selected times on any purchase of golf clothing or golf shoes. (excluding sale items) So don't miss out and pop in and see what deals you may pick up.

Men's Texas Scramble

A great field took to the course to compete in a Texas Scramble format on Saturday. With the course playing well and the weather set fair it was a good day for scoring and so it proved. Top dogs on the day was the team of Adrian Izod, Brian Barron and Pete Hindon who recorded a superb 59.8. In runners up spot and just missing out was the team of Darren Chaplin, Mal Sunley and Phil Catchpole.

Devon vs Rest of The World

Sunday saw the staging of the annual grudge match as Devon took on Rest of The World. Playing in a pairs better ball format it was all about bragging rights so each match was eagerly contested. It usually is a close affair and so it proved. The top match included myself captaining Devon and Chairman Pat Masterson captains Rest of The World. Pat and partner and wife Vivienne got off to a birdie birdie start so myself and partner Ted Ridgewell found ourselves 2 down. The match was a very high standard and I had to shoot 31 gross on the front 9 just to be 1 down! In the end Pat and Vivienne took the match on the last putt and set up a 5-3 victory for The Rest of The World and therefore gain 12 months of bragging rights!! My pain was eased somewhat when my football team Liverpool eased to the top of the Premiership that afternoon! A nervous few weeks lie ahead to see if they can stay there.

"Loft Up"

We staged our "Loft Up" day on Saturday and it was a great success. The idea of the day was to prove the Taylormade theory of "Loft up to gain distance". We were confident that we could fit people in to a more lofted driver and gain them distance. This was proved with every golfer we had take up the challenge and gave them all a good insight in to modern technology and the benefits it gives.

New Stock

We are currently receiving in to store this years New stock. We are going to be well stocked in every department including hardware, clothing and shoes. Alongside the hardware we will be holding demo carts in all our hardware brands, Nike, TaylorMade, PING and Wilson. This allows us to custom fit you perfectly with the correct head and shaft combination ideally suited to improve your golf game. In the shoe department we are going to be stocking Nike, adidas and FootJoy and will be offering a wide cross section of styles and colours. Nike, Under Armour, Footjoy and Galvin Green are our choice of clothing company's this season. We believe that the innovation behind these brands coupled with excellent price points allow us to cater for all our customers.

New Motocaddy hire fleet now available

This week I took delivery of my new fleet of Motocaddy electric hire trolleys. If you have been thinking about buying an electric trolley or just want to upgrade a existing one then we can let you take one out for a demo hire and when you purchase your New trolley we will refund you your hire fee. We will also look to offer you a trade in price if you are upgrading a existing electric trolley, depending on the model and condition.
